The College was started with well equipped laboratories in all the departments. The equipments were imported from UK and USA. Over the years the laboratories have been updated. Additional Buildings have been constructed. Electrical Engineering block, Civil Engineering block, Electronics and Communication Engineering block, Library block, and a Computer Science & Engineering block have been added to the college. The College Library has 58,085 volumes of books in various fields of Engineering. An indoor stadium and gymnasium are available. Extensive play fields for all the major out-door games are available for both boys and girls. The University Grant Commission has granted Autonomous status to the college from the academic year 2009-2010.
The college is now affiliated to the Anna University, Chennai from 2011 – 2012. The college has been recognized as a research centre and about 80 scholars are pursuring this research.Amenities like Canteen, Post Office, Xerox and STD are available. A cooperative store with students and staff as members is functioning in the campus. A Co-operative thrift society is also functioning in the campus for the benefit of the Faculty and staff members of the college. To encourage the students in extra curricular activities various associations are functioning in the campus. To name a few, Fine Arts association,Tamil Mandram, Photographic society, Techlit, N.S.S, N.C.C., Rotaract Club, Leo Club and Red Cross Society.

The College Celebrated its Golden Jubilee during the academic year 2002-2003. In commemoration of Golden Jubilee of the college the Old Boys Association ‘ACCETOBA’ has constructed a well-equipped block for Organising Symposia and seminars at a cost of about Rs. 37 lakhs purely with donations from the Alumini of this college. A car worth Rs. 4 Lakhs has been donated by the ACCETOSA to the College for promoting placement activities. A massive Arch at the entrance has been constructed by Alumni of 1982 batch students during their Silver Jubilee Meet at a cost of around Rs. 4.5 Lakhs. 1984 (5 year Batch.) Alumni have constructed and donated a PG Hostel worth of Rs. 35 Lakhs to the College as part of their Silver Jubilee reunion. 1984 (4 year Batch) Alumni have donated a mineral water plant to the institution during their Silver Jubilee reunion.
Technical Education Quality Improvement Programme (TEQIP)
This college has been selected by the World Bank to participate in the Technical Education Quality Improvement Programme (TEQIP) Phase-II and Rs. 12.5 crores has been sanctioned as programme life allocation by National Project Implementation Unit, Govt. of India. This amount will be incurred towards the purchase of latest/modern/sophisticated equipments and instruments for various departments. The campuswide networking has been completed at a cost of Rs. 1.25 Crores in Phase-I. Building works for various departments have been completed at the total estimated cost of Rs. 85 Lakhs. Instrument facilities such as XRD and SEM are offered to the researchers in and around Karaikudi at a Cheaper rate. With the finance Assistance of (Rs.70 Lakhs) TEQIP II our college is made completely Wifi.
The college got the accreditation by NBA (National Board of Accreditation) for the following branches during 2004-05. Mechanical Engineering (2 years), Civil Engineering (2 years), Electrical and Electronics Engineering (2 years).
ACCET has been chosen as the Best Engineering College of 2006 – 2007 by the Government of Tamil Nadu based on infrastructure, qualified faculties, students’performance and placement record. Major companies like TCS, HCL, Infosys, TVS Group, FL Smidth, Dalmia Cements, Saint Gobain, Zoho, Vembu are regurarly visiting our campus for placement.

Ragging – An Offence
Ragging in any form, in any place of time is a cognizable offence that will attract severe punishment including summary expulsion from the College.
Extract of Tamil Nadu Govt. Gazzete-Extract ordinary dt.29.1.97 (Bill No.8 of 1997 Tamil Nadu Prohibition of Ragging Act)
In this Act, Unless the context otherwise requires, “Ragging” means display of noisy, disorderly conduct, doing any act which causes or is likely to cause physical or psychological harm or raise apprehension or fear or shame or embarrasement to a student in any educational institution and includes: (a) Teasing, abusing or playing practical jokes on, or causing hurt to such student; or (b) Asking the student to do any act or perform something which such student will not, in the ordinary course, willingly act or perform.
Ragging within or outside any educational institution is prohibited.
Whoever directly or indirectly commits, participates in, abets or propagates “Ragging” within or outside any educational institution, shall be punished with imprisonment for a term which may extend to two years and shall also be liable to a fine which may extend to ten thousand rupees.
Any student convicted of an offence under section 4 shall also be dismissed from the educational institution and such student shall not be admitted in any other educational institution.
Without prejudice to the foregoing provisions, whenever any student complains of ragging to the head of an educational institution, or to any other person responsible for the management of the educational institution, such Head of the educational institution or person responsible for the management of the educational institution shall inquire into the same immediately and if found true shall suspend the student, who has committed the offence, from the educational institution.
